Do you need help paying your energy bill?

If you've fallen behind, energy assistance programs are available to help manage your Washington Gas bill.

LIHEAP

A federal program that provides grants to help families afford their gas bills.

Washington, DC

LIHEAP funds have been exhausted for this application period. The Department of Energy and Environment will reopen enrollment on October 1.
The RES/Utility Discount Program will accept applications until September 30. Apply online: doee.dc.gov/udp

Maryland

Application period is July 1 – June 30.

Virginia

Application period resumes on October 14 - November 14.
The Crisis Assistance application period runs every November 1 - March 15.

WAFF (Washington Area Fuel Fund) A supplemental program that provides financial assistance for heating costs.
Washington, DC Maryland Virginia	Application period is January 1 – May 31.

All customers must reapply every year for continued assistance.

If you suspect a natural gas leak or other emergency:

RECOGNIZE: Natural gas smells like sulfur, or rotten eggs. If you smell that, it may be a sign of a leak.

REACT: Upon smelling natural gas, leave your building or location immediately.

RESPOND: Call 911 then the Washington Gas Emergency Line: 844-WASHGAS (844-927-4427) OPTION 1
