Combined Heat and Power

Combined heat and power, also known as cogeneration, is a technology that simultaneously generates electric and thermal energy from a single fuel source such as natural gas. The thermal energy is utilized to provide space heating, hot water, and air conditioning through trigeneration.

Implementing CHP technology will:

• Provide up to 18 points for LEED certification (~25% of the points needed for LEED Platinum)
• Substantially reduce energy operating costs due to higher useful energy and lower gas rates compared to electricity
• Significantly reduce your carbon footprint due to onsite electric and heat generation via natural gas (a low carbon fuel source).
• Maximize energy utilization by using 93-95% useful energy from natural gas as opposed to 30-35% useful energy from the electric grid.
